Day 12, June 5 th: Hanoi

Another day, another kayer of sun lotion. With just barely 1,5 weeks passed and I'm at the point of "highest possible tan level reached". What the heck am I supposed to do for the rest 3,5 weeks?! :D I mean I'm wearing +50 sun block (hope it's not the age they mention there...) and most of the time even shirt on and walk in the shadows as much as it's possible. I also understand that it sounds quite much like NOT a third world problem. ;)

The day again consisted of normal pattern with breakfast, some time spent at the town, swimming at the pool and a coffee break. Started the visit to the town with the visit to the Indochina junk (yes, I know it does not sound too promising...!) to pay the upcoming weekend cruise at the Halong bay. This strip should happen this weekend so something else than normal Hanoi routines! :) The office was a bit hard to find, but with the help of GPS we nailed it. What would we do without the help of GPS anymore, right...? ;) After the payment done we decided to stop by to have a coffee. Oh, and we also found a tiara for Enni and swimming goggles for myself.

A set of DIY coffee. Must say it was rather good and at least there was no possibility for a use of instant coffee.

A local El federale motorciclo

We stopped by to have lunch at the KFC just out of shere interest. Must say that I wasn't too impressed. I also think that it's not due to the fact that we were in Vietnam as I experienced the same in KFC of Timesquare, NY. The airconditioning was set to a level of antarctica.

No idea what it says but must be the parking sign for the scooters

Enni's pose

A while after we found ourselves from the pool again. Had to go try out the new goggles. That was a good way to get Enni to use her's as well.

The white faces and the new goggles

The coffee break was spent today at the Rooftop lounge of our apartment building. The place has a spectacular view over the city and the Tiramisu was found rather delicious as well. Everything else was just fine but the music selection was a bit odd...some of you might know I'm not that much into the electronic music, especially to the one where the "songs" last for a half an hour, don't have lyrics and it's hard to distinquish where a one stops and another one starts. That was the selection at the Rooftop. But as the spirit of the trip was, I'm not gonna let that bother me.

The dinner of the day was set to be eaten at the restaurant. We walked a while looking for something new and foun a Sumo BBQ named restaurant. The problem with this place was the pricing. Other than that it seemed like there was a possibility to order anything from the menu within the stay and the price was all the same. Also kids under 130 cm would had gotten a 70% discount. Yet we found out the prices just as we sat down so we decided still to move on and change the restaurant.

Next up the street was the Egg talk. A sandwich joint with an extensive juice list. The prices were more like it and we placed an order and the drinks costed more than the food. Enni also got to dance a bit (as she does everywhere nowadays... should put her into a dancing hobby lessons, right?) at the floor and that's what the video is trying to show. ;)

Walking back to the apartment afterwards was more like stopping by every few meters to check out something in the shops. At the end ofthis post are some pictures of that. We also stopped by to "re-fuel" our SIM cards as it seems that the 3€ spent on initial load was now spent on the first 1,5 weeks. :)

A bag with a face

A normal evening hobby for the locals: playing games, or at least this one that I don't knowthe name for

Evening traffic that never seems to end... In Salo there is this moment at the night during which there is nothing on the streets and everything is quiet. I kinda miss that from time to time. And I also miss the fact that the cars are not the ones with the "right of way" on the crosswalk. It sort of bothers me that while walking with a child on your lap the cars are still trying their everything to drive infront of you. Oh, well: when in Rome, do as the Romans do. ;)

Yet another fixie found on the street

A family Karaoke... not sure we'll ever visit there. Ever! :D
And yet another BMW branded bike. What's with the locals?!

Pity these didn't come in the men's sizes... ;)
