Day 26, June 19 th: Hanoi

Wednesday was a day out again! In the morning we planned to go out to the Dong Xuan market during the day. This market is the biggest indoor market in Hanoi and is actually for the wholesale purposes so not that much to buy there but even more to see. We did the normal morning routines and took off with a taxi to the Hoan Kiem district and walked the last few blocks to the market. At the market we started going through the selection. The thing is that at least you can see here what is it that can be found sold in the city. The 3 stories have a huge collection of stuff from the watches to men's suits and a whole block dedicated to bra and butt pants. :)

Street entrance to the Dong Xuan market area. The wholesale market has actually spread to the close by streets as well.

The insights of the covered market area. I must say that the day was hot and the feeling inside this building was close to being in Finnish sauna!

After walking around as long as there was sweat in me left we went out again. The temp did not come down but at least there was a small chance of getting a breeze from one of the fans in one of the shops along the way. We also stopped to take a look into a Hello Kitty store. There are quite a lot of things accompanied by the logo! :) After the Hello Kitty store we stopped for a lunch at the next door in Quan Map restaurant.

"The round casttle" that Enni remembers to point out every time we pass it by.

The small portion of the helmet selections available.

The Hello Kitty store. Did I buy something... well no, not this time anyway! ;)

The hair on my lunch dish, I dare not think where it came from and just think that it flew in from the ceiling or something

After the lunch we came back to the apartment to have a swim. According to the Foreca the tempreature was in this point +36 degrees but the history data showed the real feel being +38 degrees. After the swim we went to have a juice in the cafe downstairs.

The Caramel Mocha Macchiato in Highlands cafe

In the evening we still took a dinner out. We walked to theCa Phe Tuyet, a place with ads of pasta and pizza on their window. The pizza was a small disappointment as the taste was missing. Luckily there's nothing that can't be spiced up with the local chili sauce Nuoc Cham! After the infamous pizza incident we still went for a coffee right accross the street.

So, it's now thursday and we're about to start clocking the last 10 days of the trip! Today starts also the mid summer gettaway trip that we've been waiting for, the destination: Hong Kong! Enni will get to go to Disney land and we all get to see the amazing city for the next 4 days. Great! :) I'll be reporting the weekend trip later next week. Until then: C ya, and have a nice mid summer fest!
