Wednesday started in sunny weather once again. The plan for the day was to go back to the park found the day before. Also I was keen on seeing the near by bridge construction site (yes, I'm an engineer) due to the sheer size of it.
After a breakfast we took a taxi to the Cong Vien Thong Nhat park. Quite fast we noticed that the park was not "open" the same way it was the last time. Not all the carousels were functioning (luckily still one of them) and the electric cars were not running. Good thing that there was also less people in the park leaving Enni more options to choose from. For instance the swing was free this time and there was no one cutting in the queue. A word of wisdom and something learned again here is the cultural difference between what we've used to back home. There is no queues or lines in far East. It's more like be quick or be dead kind of mentality. This might be hard for instance to us Finns as we've used to wait for our turns in line as we're told to so (mentioned also in Stam1na's Elämän tarkoitus song: "Jonotat koska on tapana niin"). Well, again traveling without sticking to your own old habbits is the way to go here. Trying to dapt as much as possible as that is more polite than trying to feed your own beliefs/manners to others. It ain't always easy, but I don't think it even should be. ;)
A closer look at the swing chain fix with Steel wire... rough it is but I think it'll hold. :D
At last in the swing!
It looks like the Lappset playground equipment we have back in Finland as well but it just looks like that.
One of the amusement park rides that was shut down this time
I'm pretty sure that it was not meant to be gone over this one...
Sputnik!
A bit different kind of a set of Pop corn; the sweet one! I remember back in the days I was a little girl and there were those pink pop corns available... they were not my favorite back then and still today I can only taste a few.
After a quick snack at the kiosk in the park we left to find the bridge construction site at the Red river. The taxi ride there was a bit longer one. The place is on the other end of the West lake, approximately 6 km from where we started off. Close by the site we jumped off the taxi and had an inexpensive lunch, just 70 000 VND (less than 3 €) that included two bowls of pork noodle soup and the drinks for two.
The construction site was a few hundred meters away from the restaurant and Enni was a bit tired after waking up in the morning a bit earlier than necessary. So, I had to carry her around the places. In this heat even a half a kilometer with additional 20 kg or so is quite enough. Sweaty but happy for achieving the target we arrived to the site and got the pictures and to admire the huge supports of the bridge to come. I suppose that this should solve some traffic problems both ways, from and to Hanoi. Not being travelling in the morning rush I cannot say whether there is a heavy traffic in these directions or not but guessing that is the case as they're building this bridge.
If this ain't the Heavy karaoke then I don't know what this is! \,,/_ Oo_\,,/
One of the supports of the bridge...
...and another one from up close.
One A-support seen in the back
The huge supports were seen even over the buildings
The A-supports pictured from closer
Hard to say how long bridge it's going to be but I figure it's going to be at least a few kilometers
This picture with the texts opens maybe only to the Finns... :)
Enni, tired but happy. I guess... :) She was not that much into the engineering wonder we saw.
The local Vanha Rauma: Retro & Raum. Cheers to all ya people from the city of Rauma!
After the infrastructure admiration trip we went to have an afternoon swim in order to strenghten the thigh area tan. :) The weather was again a bit cold according to Enni so the session was not that long but I think still a good one.
Precision sun bathing for the thighs. ;)
From the pool we left to have a cup of cool. We found the juice bar called the Cherry. Ended having two huge portions of juice as Enni didn't like her own. :) Well, it was good juice so I don't mind.
Yet another color variation of the BMW bike. Saw one of these driving around in the city so they really are functional as well! ;)
Found a shoestore and a shoebrand for me! Guess they're not selling that well...
Afterwards as Laura got back from work we went to have a dinner in a restaurant that was highly recommended: the Lion city bar & restaurant. This was a Singaporean restaurant and a first of such for me. The list was filled with spicy food and I ended up ordering Chicken curry labeled with three chilis. I mut say that it was well spiced! ...although not as hot as some of the food prepared back home. ;)
The line-up: Chicken curry, Enni's portion of rice and Laura's spicy seafood noodle. All good!
