The unfortunate day. Breaks my heart to see small children sick, especially when it's one of my own. The day started with a sentence from Enni: "I feel sick... " and I asked her "From where?". "The whole girl..." she replied. And about a half an hour later she was throwing up. I remember from my childhood that the good ol' stomach ache was the worst form of sickness you could imagine. Today I could add the back pains and tooth ache to the list but that was then. We tried to re-hydrate her a bit with juice mixed with Precosa, the bacteria pill that helps you to adjust with foreign bacterias. But no, everything came back up. After a few hours and floor full of vomit I decided that we would seek out some help because even the weather here could drain you out, not to mention the vommiting. So we seeked for help from the clinic downstairs but they directed us to the French hospital of Hanoi, because they hace the pediatrician on call. We rushed to the hospital with me carrying Enni as she was almost loosing her consciousness. Checking in, paperwork, more vomiting, cursing and we're in. The pediatrician was available immediately (I think we Westerns got past of the line) and he was checking Enni's physicals and ordered the stomach area ultra pics. After the pics he decided to take us in the hospital just to re-hydrate Enni intravascularly as the fluids came up from stomach.
After a few hours Laura also got to the hospital (leaft in the middle of the day from work) and I got to go to have some lunch. After lunch I brought some stuff back from the apartment to girls at the hospital and arranged the Halong bay cruise for the next weekend. I spent few more hours at the hospital until the girls were going to sleep (hope they were able to as the little boy next door was crying quite much... like all the time) and then came back to the apartment to get some rest.
The day was pretty much all about getting Enni feeling better. She also developed some fever at the hospital so I hope that tomorrow morning she will be able to check out. The cost side was also interesting as never ever have I seen a bill of 10 million assigned to me before! :D
Not sure what are all the stuff we were supposed to have in the room but... sure, it was all there! ;)
The princess re-hydrating
The sleeping beauty...
ET was not phoning home this time. He would just stare...
A quick recovery after a set of drugs and 250 ml of hydration! :)
Luna Lydia in room 406. They almost got it right. ;)
Oh, and must I mention that it was raining today as it's the raining season. That also explains the fallen tree branche on the road on the way to the hotel. Huge ones! Also windy it was they said. The "Apartments"- sign in front of our entrance had fallen off due to the wind (!).
The sign that had "Gone with the wind" is the blue one in the picture... some wind I say!
"...light showers in the area of Hanoi city center..."

I'm supposed to walk in who's shoes again...? Figure out and win a price! ;)
I might add another traffic information here as well. Never ever have I seen before that a car (a small one, but still) can be driven like here. The other day our taxi driver was able to drive the car in a way that he never exeeded the limit of 1500 RPM and he made it to the 5th gear!!! He was also leaving the intersections on third gear. The other driver was able to kick in the 4th gear in the speed of 11 km/h. Can you imagine why most of the taxis here have the motor alrm light burning red all the time?! :D
Here's also a video about a slow day traffic in Hanoi. Scooters much...? Or not too much...? Or not much too much?
