Day 24, June 17 th: Hanoi

On Monday we were supposed to make good the missing Sunday museum visit. For someone the "make good" in this point would be missing it again, right? :) Well, I decided that we need to go into one of the museums as they are so highly recommended by the locals. I'm not much of a museum-kinda guy but I'll make one exception per one new foreign city. Max 1 I mean.

I took the liberty to use a moment in the morning to finalize one job application and send it out before going out on other business. After getting that thing sorted out we took our belongings and went outside for a taxi. Took the taxi ride to the Airforce museum just to see that it's not open on Mondays. I felt like there was this force that was trying to tell me that I was not supposed to be going there at all. Well, I think that I need to take that hint and skip the whole history lesson! ...or just learn to read the opening times of the place. :)

Skipping the museum for the second time we went to have a coffee on the cafeteria next door, the same one where we didn't get any service at all the last time. This time there were again the 6 waiters behind the desk but 1 actually approached us with a menu. Got our espresso and smoothie pretty quickly and we were set to go for the next disappointment! ;)

We decided to check the (at least visually from outside) better shopping area next to the Hotel Hilton. Just to find out that there were no shops that we would actually need/want anything from. So instead we just seeked for a restaurant to go eat in as Enni stated that she was hungry. Enni also got to pick the restaurant to go to and the closest by was Swing cafe. Thsi place had just been opened and was really nicely furnished and clean and for a surprise even quite cheap, in it's own category of course. We ordered some noodles for Enni and I took the recommended rice dish. Enni didn't eat either of them and started to look tired. So I ended up eating two main courses! After a while Enni said she's still hungry (a woman's mind is always fresh as it's changed so often!) so we ordered her yet another dish: some fries. She ate about a half of the dish, which was already good enough as she really started to feel like tired, getting onto my lap all the time and closing her eyes.

From the restaurant we walked (read: I carried Enni) few blocks still checkin out the stores adn finally walked by a Bia Hoi place from where I decided to take one glass to sip while Enni got to sip some water. There Enni again got to my lap and asked that could we go home already. That was the sign that she really was tired.

After getting home she jumped directly to the couch and put her head on the pillow asking for a planket as it was cold. I took her a planket and checked her up for fever but no strong signs were present. Enni started moaning that she feels sick and I got scared that she'll be sick again like just a few weeks ago. She went to the toilet for few times after which she started looking a bit pale. I measured the fever with my hand and got the feeling that she got a bit high tempereature. After a while she said she got chills and started looking like a sick kid does. I gave her some medicine as she asid her head was aching as well. We also drank loads of fluids and all the time for the few hours there I was ready to put a plastic back in front of ther in case she would throw up. The good thing was that she never did. Also another good thing was that she fell asleep and slept for a good 30 minutes. Laura had departed work aslo a bit earlier and she was on her way to see the little patient. As she arrived I went to the close by market to buy some water and other shoppings.

The juice for the all the Ultimate Fighters out there, had to buy one to try it out :D
Laura started making some food and I decided to go out and jog (yes, haven't done it in 10 years!) as for some reason I felt like I had to get to test the outdoor gym in the Cong Vien Thong Nhat park, the same one that had all the carousel rides as well. I really haven't been into the running as my knees haven't been in condition for me to do so. But for some reason now it felt like a good option for the gym. I ran for 6,15 km in 53 minutes and that time included few round of dips and pull-ups in the gym area of the park. See the route here: Joggingin the park. The amazing thing to me was that I could run all the way and my knees didn't seem to mind the jogging either. I think that one thing helping in this one was the fact that I used the FiveFingers shoes so the running was closer to barefoot running making me run on my toes rather than on flat foot or heel. The conditioning part I was not that worried about as I've been cycling some while we were still back in Finland. For now it seems that with a little stretching on top I will feel good still tomorrow! ;) Hoepfully Enni will as well so that we can enjoy the Hanoi while we still can!
