Day 17, June 10 th: Hanoi

Now oficcially 2 weeks in Hanoi,Vietnam spent. Nice! Monday was expected to be spent indoors as the weather was for the first time rainy in the morning. We headed to the Pico mall, a few kilometers south from our apartment. They said that there should be a Disney store there... Maybe there HAS been one back in the days. Arrived to the mall and I noticed that I had left my wallet back at the apartment. On top of that I had just spent almost all of my money. Not the best kind of way to start an extensive shopping round. :) Well, luckily the mall was almost empty. Lots of space to have shops but most of them closed and the ones that were still up and running were having a sale. Maybe we need to go back another day to make the real shopping rather than window shopping. After all we ended up having lunch there and mapped around the places there.

We found one particular shop, a book store from the mall that was selling nice puzzles: human and animal anatomy ones! Great way to teach kids biology! There were animal puzzles like frog, tiger, mammoth and such. Also human organs like skin, tooth, intestine system, woman re-productive system... :D Something for everybody!

 Commuters in rain

The human torso puzzle... I would had loved to buy one!

Probably one of the reasons why the mall was so empty: most of the big crowd are not able to spend in such places, the owner of this ride most certainly does.

After the mall trip we came back to the apartment and had an afternoon snack and watched some Finnish cartoons from computer.

In the evening we went out to have a dinner the whole family. We first tried the Sonata cafe and Lounge (due to the naming almost close to Sonata Arctica, the Finnish band) but the owners were just sleeping on the couches there. Woke them up by reading out loud the mnu I had found from one table. Seemed that they were not willing to serve anything so we skipped one corner and found the Hong restaurant. I'm actually glad that we went there instead. The reason was that I had the opportunity to eat frog legs in Hong and in the matter of a fact I did! :) For the first time in my life! Have to say that it was not that bad after all. Tasted more like fish and the mouth feel was closer to chicken... maybe due to the leg eating that was like eating chicken wings. I actually might eat thse again!

What a better ride in Vietnam than an American military vehicle? :D Gooooood morning Vietnam!

Stairway to, no, not heaven but to Cafe Sonata. Not so close to heaven.

A dish of Frog legs, dig in!

On the way home from the restaurant we stopped by for another cup of coffee in the Twitter coffee beans. This seems like very good coffee shop with something on the list that caught my eye: the Vanilla ice Blended. ;D I had to taste that one just for the kick of it! ;)

Vanilla Ice blended was not the cheapest but best named coffee that Twitter coffee beans offered, I think.
